Calgary Alberta has been feeling the vibes of Alter Ego Collective since 2008. AEC released his first album Indigo Hours in March 2017 with CBME, going on to open 15 shows throughout Calgary that year. Blessing mic’s before Jedi Mind Tricks, Nino Bless, Evil Ebenezer and Hopsin along with local talent throughout YYC, AEC has been quietly building a framework for expressing the beauty of equality through recognition of our individual insignificance. CJSW 90.9 has hosted AEC freestyle sessions as well as multiple battle/cypher events sharpening his skill. April 13, 2018 will see his video "Popular Demand ft. Willy Snypes" drop, with the his album "The Valley" and multiple side projects on the way. Through visuals, recordings, and live sets/freestyles Alter Ego Collective vocalizes a tapestry painted through the mental drivebys and physical trials of modern life. Calgary can’t quite put their finger on AEC, but that’s just the way it’s been planned out. Change the station.
Similar to his artist name, D’AR’s life has been constant changes. From moving back and forth between New York and Georgia nine times, being the “new guy” living in different hoods, attending 10 different schools and gaining and loosing friends along the way, his life was a constant roller coaster. Like many of you, D’AR’s journey so far has been full of obstacles, changes, positives and what some would call negatives. Some knocking him to the ground, while others lifted him to the clouds. Through it all one thing remained consistent and that was his relationship with music.
Music has been a guide for D’AR, helping him not only express the struggles throughout his journey, but study his life and himself as an artist and a person as well. Growth and balance are two major components in a successful life and by simply listening and understanding D’AR’s music, you can witness the growth from boy to man. You can experience his experiences with love, sex, struggle, grinding, school, the streets and so much more just by plugging in some headphones and closing your eyes.
With his Music D’AR hopes to change as many lives as possible. Helping those going through struggles, tough times, and life’s journeys in general, the same way music helped him. At the same time celebrating life and the gifts we find in it. Teaching, learning and growing together, Dominating And Repeating as everything in this world does.
I’m D’AR DOllA. Come walk with me.
